A mild obsession with a model from a phone sex advertisement leads to an elegy for the complex, troubled porn actor Alan Lambert, in acclaimed queer artist William E. Jones' critically lauded essay film.

As much essay film as detective story, artist and experimental filmmaker William E. Jones's second feature Finished is a candid reflection on desire, pornography and industry. Jones sees a phone sex ad and becomes enamoured with the model, Quebecois performer Alan Lambert. Hearing of Alan's suicide prompts Jones to investigate; he searches for traces of meaning in the videos that featured him, and in turn reflects on the nature of adult film production. Transfixing landscape shots, magazine scans, and even Frank Capra's Meet John Doe combine in this remarkable essay film that hasn't been screened in Australia since 1997.

"Finished delivers its most devastating blows in showing how politics, commerce, sexuality and the individual are engaged in a deadening if not deadly dance." - - Ernest Hardy, L.A. Weekly
